The Community Stakeholders’ Group advises the Moor than meets the eye Landscape Partnership Board of the views of the local community and a variety of user groups in the delivery of the Scheme until the end of 2019. We are keen to ensure that we listen to community views about the implementation of the projects to ensure a wide and positive impact across the whole area and its hinterland.
If you'd like to get involved, we're still welcoming applications from representatives from local communities and parishes in and around the Scheme area, particularly those with interests in the environment, wildlife or heritage conservation, history, recreation, health, young people, volunteering, interpretation, skills and/or business (agriculture, tourism etc.) Priority will be given to those parishes not currently represented in the group such as Ashburton, Chagford, Moretonhampstead and Widecombe-in-the-Moor.
Moor than meets the eye involves local residents, businesses, farmers, visitors and agencies working together to share, understand and appreciate this landscape and contribute to its future.
The Community Stakeholders’ Group is an important part of this and has representatives on the Landscape Partnership Board. The Group meet every three months, with an additional commitment of further quarterly meetings for those elected to represent the Group on the Board. Meetings of the Community Stakeholders’ Group are normally held on a weekday evening.
One of our current members says:
Members are supported by a development programme including a half day’s induction to the Scheme, its Projects and the work of the Group, and a further one day each year in site visits and related training. Appointment to the Group is initially for one year, with members being eligible for reappointment for a further period of between one and three years.
The Landscape Partnership is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund, with £1.9m provided towards the Scheme’s budget of over £3.8 million to be delivered by summer 2019.
